Niagara Falls

We drove further north! So far north, we were able to see Canada!

We got to the campground after the office closed and found our site. Another back in site but we were ready for it. It wasn’t too dark outside but it was freezing cold!

We unhooked and turned the heater on as soon as we could.

After a good night’s rest and making hot cocoa for the road, we went out to the falls.

We drove into Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest American State Park. The parking was $8-10 and we were able to park pretty close to the actual falls.

They were incredible!

You can tell 3,160 tons of water are flowing down Niagara Falls per second. The water comes from 4 out of 5 Great Lakes (Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Superior).

The spray from the falls got us wet. It was very cold outside. We wore gloves and beanies.IMG_7262.jpg

We saw the Maid of the Mist Boat Tour going by. Everyone got pretty soaked. They even had options to go under the falls. We weren’t too interested since we didn’t want to get soaked but we would definitely try it next time during a warmer month!

We walked around the park to see everything from different angles and the different water falls. It was amazing to just listen to all the water pounding against the rocks below us. IMG_7292.jpg

We went into the Visitor Center and read up on some Niagara Falls history which was really interesting.

It would have been pretty cool to see the view on the Canadian side but we didn’t have our passports.

Canada arguable has a better view of the Falls.IMG_7264.JPG

We went back to the campground and checked in since we had arrived too late the previous day. Jared came back with our paperwork and a car tag for free entrance to any New York State Park during our stay! We could have saved some money if we had just checked in before heading off to the park.

We learned another lesson as we traveled along. Always check in for perks and other discounts.
