Nashville, TN

Are you from Tennessee? Because you’re the only ten I see.

We left Georgia and headed towards Nashville, TN. It was the day before Thanksgiving and setting up at our campsite was easy. We only needed a board down to level the trailer and we were all set to go.

On our way in, we saw some lights and thought to investigate them once we were settled in. We found ourselves in Opryland where there were beautiful lights strung up. We didn’t stay too long since there wasn’t any parking but we enjoyed the views.

We ended up at another Kroger’s for extra ingredients for our Thanksgiving feast. Jared wanted to try his at candied yams!

The next day…

It’s Thanksgiving Day!

Our first Thanksgiving away from everyone we know. Jared made us some hot cocoa with mini marshmallows as a treat.

We thought to explore a little before dinner so we headed to Broadway Street. We found free parking since it was a holiday and parked right by the Ryman Auditorium! We walked up and down the street checking out the buildings. We even did some shopping.

Most of the bars and shops were closed but we were able to find some that were open. There were quite a few people on the streets and it was really fun to see everything. We walked down the street to see the Tennessee Titans Football Stadium.

We got back to our car and drove around looking at the murals and recording studios around town. I think it was the best day to do it because there weren’t a lot of people out and about.

IMG_6239.jpgWe drove down Music Row where some big musicians like Florida Georgia Line and Luke Combs record.

We had the murals all to ourselves.

It was also harder to take pictures together so there were some pros and cons.

We headed back to Aljo and started making our dinner. The campground had a Thanksgiving event there but we opted to stay in.

Jared situated the tv on the bed so we could watch the football game. He had an unfortunate accident where the TV came down on his nose. It became a mark that became apparent in the next few days.

We had to move our table around so we’d have enough room to prepare and cook dinner.

We had quite the feast!

We Facetimed some of our family members too. It was nice “seeing” everyone on Thanksgiving.

The following day we had a slow morning. It had been really nice taking it slow since we aren’t morning people.

We went to the Centennial Park and it was beautiful!

There were bench swings around the park and we had a great time taking in the scenery and nice weather. We brought our frisbee so we did that for a while too.

They have a full-scale Parthenon replica! Nashville earned the nickname “Athens of the South” because of the number of colleges and universities nearby and their commitment to education. It was built for Tennessee’s 1897 Centennial Exposition. They rebuilt the building in 1920 and that’s what we saw. It was a really cool experience. The museum wasn’t open since it was the Friday after Thanksgiving but we’ll be back.

We drove back to Broadway Street and headed to our first bar. The Tin Roof Bar had live music and a happy hour so we headed there first.

We got in and found a table. The music hadn’t started yet so we ordered some hard ciders and got ready. There were lights strung up and the bar was super cute.

We had just gotten our drinks when the music started and that was when Jared realized his ears couldn’t handle the loud music.

We basically chugged our drinks, paid, then headed out. Jared’s ears haven’t been the same since the Jake Owen concert we went to.

We walked around outside a bit more and found the Goo Goo Shop. We got a Goo Goo Cluster to share and it was delicious!

We decided to stay a little longer and we went into a bar with no live music. We talked the night away.

The next morning, we were leaving Nashville. We woke up late and the check out time was 11 AM but Jared and I are pros when it comes to packing and hitching up.

We had a great time in Nashville. We knew this wouldn’t be the last time we were in Tennessee. There was so much we didn’t do so we have to go back!
