After a relaxing morning, we headed to Dallas, TX. It didn’t take too long – 3.5-4 hours.
Jared claimed he could back in without help, so I let him.
He didn’t do too bad but at the same time, the site was paved, there were no obstructions or obstacles, and the spot was fairly wide.

He was very proud of himself.
We settled in and hung around the campground for the night. The showers were not very close so Jared had to drive the Suburban to a different part of the campground. The water what not very warm.. nothing worse than a cold shower!
The next morning, we drove into town which took about 40 minutes. We were heading to the 6th Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. Its subject being the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

They had the audio for tours and it gave a more in depth tour. The museum is in the former Texas School Books Depository. It’s the location law enforcement say Lee Harvey Oswald was when he assassinated Kennedy.

The spot that Oswald waited in is blocked off by glass. There is also a live video stream of what the sniper would see.

There were models and a variety of other media showing how the assassination occurred.

We read about the different conspiracies out there. There are so many!

It was a great museum and we would definitely recommend it. This assassination was a tragedy that rocked the nation. It was interesting to see how the museum depicted all the emotions moving through the country.

After the museum, we walked outside for a bit to see some of the other aspects of Dealey Plaza like the grassy knoll.
There were some X’s marked on the road that signified where each shot hit during the Kennedy assassination.

After soaking in all the history and conspiracies from Kennedy’s assassination, we hopped back in the car for a drive to the Fort Worth Stockyard. There were shops, restaurants, and rodeo arena! It was the off season so there weren’t very many people out.

We did some souvenir shopping and found some fun shops to browse through.
It was pretty cold in Fort Worth so we were nicely bundled up. After our shopping excursion, we headed back to the trailer. It was a 50 minute drive back.
Jared wasn’t done driving though, we were making tacos for dinner so we had to drive to the nearby Target for some taco seasoning and other essentials.
Something we saw while driving in Texas:

After dinner, we had a nice night in and watched our show (Blue Bloods). Blue Bloods was unfortunately interrupted by a clicking noise. That noise was unfortunately our heater trying to click on. We ran out of propane!
The night was only going to get colder but there was nothing we really could do. We’d have to drive out and refill our tanks tomorrow.
The next morning, we moved some of our things away from the known leaks around the trailer since there was rain in the forecast. It wasn’t the greatest plan but it worked in the moment.
We couldn’t have a hot breakfast due to the absence of propane so we just headed out to refill the tanks. Luckily we were able to fill our tanks but they let us know it would be the only time since the certification for the propane tanks were now expired. We had heard that a time or two! We thought it would be fine since we wouldn’t be coming back and we were on the last leg of our trip.
We dropped the propane tanks back off at the trailer and headed back out to explore. On today’s schedule, we would be exploring George W. Bush’s Presidential Library. This visit was about a week after George H. W. Bush’s death. There were flowers of condolences outside of the library. There was also a memorial book for visitors to sign.

It was a beautifully done library. There was an exhibit to showcase past Christmases at the White House while he was in office.

There was also a projected show on the walls that showed some incredible pictures of sights.

There were various exhibits from his bid for office, the programs enacted during his presidency to the devastating acts which occurred during his presidency. There was a video that went over Bush’s presidency which gave a lot of information and history.

The book President Bush was reading when he was told of the terrorist attacks.

From one of the twin tower buildings:

There was a model of the oval office during his presidency.

There were interactive exhibits – the “decision making” was a favorite of Jared’s. We had to make tough decisions that President Bush had to make in his presidency (like 9/11 response, 2008 stock market crash, etc.)

We had a great time at the library. There was so much information and history.
It was raining when we left.
Dallas traffic is no joke. We were stuck for a while so we decided to grab a drink at Starbucks and wait it out in the car. We eventually left the area since the traffic subsided after awhile. Towards the end of the day Jared got a voicemail requesting an interview for a state job, that was a good sign!

We were leaving Dallas! We had a long drive ahead of us but we wanted to see the Dallas Cowboy’s Stadium – AT&T Stadium.

We got back into the car and started our 10-hour drive to our next stop – Carlsbad KOA.
