After a full day in San Antonio, we headed to Austin.
Our campground was at McKinney Falls State Park. Our sites were huge! We put up some decor to make it more festive. The drive to Austin didn’t take very long so we had plenty of daylight still.

We made some lunch after setting up and decided on taking a walk. There were some short trails so we decided to walk the Homestead Trail. The trail lead to a watering hole.

The ground there looked like we were on another planet.

We continued on the path to see “Old Baldy”, an old Pecan Tree.

The next morning, we headed into Austin. The weather was significantly cooler than it was in San Antonio. We had our jackets on.
We were going to take a tour of Texas’ Capitol Building.
It seemed like there were multiple tours going on today. There were quite a few elementary students present and singing Christmas Carols in the building.

We went through the building and explored!

We found a couple of Christmas Trees!

The Senate and House of Representatives floors were decked out with cheer.

Because it was a weekday, there were very few people around. We were the only ones on the backside of the Capitol Building.
After the tour, we wanted to check out Rainy Street – houses turned into bars. It was too early to stop by for a drink.
We stopped on South Congress Avenue for some shops. There were so many little trinkets!
We did stop at Zilker Park and played frisbee.

It was dinner time so we headed to dinner! Believe it or not, but we decided on Texas Roadhouse. We had a giftcard and the early dinner specials were too good to pass up.
Our server was another “Jared”. He was a part of a band and wanted Jared to join so there’d be multiple “Jareds” in the band. He was a little weird but he also gave us a box of bread to go.
Overall, we had a nice time in Austin.
